Culture Bearer Implementation Grant
The Crawfish Chimney and Waterworks is inspired by ancient adaptations and biomimicry. This functional sculpture will be built out of clay, harvested by the shaping of rainwater retention bioswales and repurposed into a human scale Crawfish Chimney. The experimental earth space will have multifunctional potentials including as seed storage, a root cellar or a storm shelter, incorporating traditional bousillage and rammed earth practices. The Crawfish Chimney will be surrounded by a bottomland hardwood wild tea garden.
