As the sea level rises and land disappears, vulnerable coastal communities in the Mississippi River Delta are confronted with stark options, to retreat or perish. This project aims to address this unfolding crisis using two strategies: the first phase consists of a floating public exhibition of ideas, installed in Bayou St. John, exploring floating communities (floating houses, gardens, public spaces, and community centers) as a viable alternative to retreating for those who choose to live with water. The second phase consists of small-scale interventions, pilot projects in delta communities throughout St. Bernard Parish and the Delacroix Island area.
