Returning From the Point of No Return is a series of sculptural works installed at sites across New Orleans, developed in response to recent research warning of the accelerating loss of Louisiana’s remaining wetlands. Inspired by Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower, the project treats seeds as survival technology and asks whose neighborhoods are worth protecting. The work traces histories of ecological loss tied to decisions about land, extraction, and belonging, while also imagining what the infrastructures built through those histories might become when their original purpose has ended. The project creates spaces for gathering, memory, and imagining futures beyond abandonment.
