“A Garden to DYE For: Crafting Community with Black Youth Through Fiber Art” centers around the creation of a public natural dye garden located in the already established 7th Ward Boys and Girls Garden. In conjunction with free fiber-art workshops—including growing, spinning, dying, crocheting, and weaving cotton—black children and families will be reconnected to our lost fiber traditions, by bringing this handicraft into the public sphere of the 7th Ward and other community centers.
